My oldest turned 9 last Friday.

For some reason, I always have a hard time planning a party for him.  For the last 2 years we let him choose a couple of friends to take a jump house or to the movies.  That worked well, but this year he wanted a party.  I HATE having parties at my house because I have to clean up to have it, clean up afterwards and do all the in between stuff.  It's really hard to do it all with 6 kids underfoot.  So after thinking and praying about it, I decided to have a pool party at my parents and serve hotdogs.  They have a huge yard, an above ground pool and a trampoline, which is actually my younger brothers.  I guess he thought it would get used more at mom and dad's.  After discussing themes, Sam decided on Star Wars.  Easy, I thought.  I assumed I could just get on Pintrest and find lots of free printables, but no.  There were a few sites for Lego Star Wars, but he didn't want that.  It had to be the original Star Wars.  Not even Clone Wars would work.  So after some serious digging, I found this and this.  I ended up just using the banner and the Jedi Knight Certificate.  I stuck the Jedi Knight Certificate in the goodie bags, with both the certificates and bags labled, before hand so I wouldn't be rushing around doing it during the party.

I made cupcakes and topped them with these toppers from Party City.  I also found this Darth Vader candle at Party City.  The light saber was the candle.

At the very end, we surprised Sam with a Darth Vader Pinata.  It was a hit!  Get it...a hit!  Haha!  Yeah...

The party was simple, but perfect for my favorite first born.  His closest friends and cousins were there and they all had a blast.  Now, time to start planning the twins party:)
